The cause of transit is negatively affected by journalists who write articles about transit without understanding what they are writing about. Case in point: in a couple of weeks, Los Angeles Metro will cancel several underperforming bus lines. Instead of having empty Rapid buses, Metro will add more service to the underlying local service, which is often overcrowded. From the way some are describing it, you would think Metro is going out of business. Yet, knowledgeable transit people realize that these changes may make service better along these corridors by providing more service to stops that people actually use.
