Transit Laws and Regulations

Transit, like any other profession, is affected by certain laws and regulations. The two most important laws for transit are the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act; other laws and regulations that affect transit include the Buy American law, Clinton's environmental justice executive order, the school service rule, the charter rule, and labor laws.
