The Central Valley of California has surprisingly good public transit. GET (Golden Empire Transit) in Bakersfield had 7.4 million annual trips in 2010, while FAX (Fresno Area Express) had 17.8 million trips. Despite the difference in passenger volumes, GET arguably provides better service than FAX because it operates until 11:30 PM weekdays versus 9:30 PM weekdays for FAX. Both operate abbreviated service on weekends.
